Georgia Tech (3-5, 2-4 ACC) played a comeback in the second half, but the Yellow Jackets failed to beat Virginia Tech (4-4, 2-2) in the first half – next – for the last time in the conference with 329.7 yards per game – To match that yard on the 20-7 lead route.
Brackston Bermester Turner was far behind as he made 15 assists for 254 yards and two touchdowns for Virginia Tech, and Toner Junior yards.
Georgia Tech’s back-to-back Jahmir Gibbs ran 113 yards, and was too late to give the yellow jackets the lead just to slip on the wet field.
Each team intervened in the second half, but Virginia Tech won the game in a two-game series at the end of the third quarter and at the beginning of the fourth.
First, after Georgia Tech entered 23-17, Gibbs broke the gap on the right-hand side that looked like an 82-yard touchdown run.
He had one last defender, a safety from the corner.
Gibbs was cut, but on a cold, gray day it did not catch on the ground.
