The US Department of Energy (DOE) has developed strategic plans to maintain a clean energy supply chain. For nuclear, DOE’s goals are to enable the continuation of US nuclear power plants, to deploy advanced nuclear power plants, to develop advanced nuclear fuel cycles, and to maintain US leadership in nuclear energy technology.

US strategy to maintain the supply chain for a strong clean energy transfer According to DOE, the US government is the first comprehensive strategy in history to build a reliable, sustainable and diverse domestic energy industry. Ready to respond. 14017 Executive Order on the American Supply ChainA.D.
“The bold move to invest in our supply chain means that the United States will reap the tremendous opportunities it will provide to fight climate change, to start domestic production, and to safeguard our national, economic, and energy security,” said Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm.
“A nation’s strength lies in the strong and reliable critical supply chains within the sectors, and the DOE report provides key strategies and recommendations to Congress and the federal government to provide more jobs and a stronger and cleaner future.”
The report focuses on 13 “in-depth assessments” of special technologies and shortcomings and focuses on key findings to strengthen the country’s energy supply chain and build the country’s energy base and manpower.
The 65-page in-depth review of nuclear power was developed by staff at the entrance to the Nuclear, National Reactor Innovation Center and the Idaho National Laboratory. Comments in response to a November 2021 DOE request for information were also used to inform the report.
The Nuclear Supply Chain is critical to the continued success of existing U.S. hydroelectric vessels and to support the deployment of advanced nuclear technologies to provide low carbon heat and / or electricity to out-of-service facilities and processes. Energy sector, along with other clean energy options for deep carbon removal. Nuclear power provides more domestic jobs and higher average wages than other sources of energy, says the Deep-Dive report.
“Despite the challenges and dangers in each of these areas, the implementation of targeted policies will help achieve all of these goals and help the US nuclear supply chain meet the country’s energy, environmental and social needs,” he said.
Focusing on the need to deploy advanced reactor’s major priorities in the near future (until mid-2020) are to establish a reliable domestic supply of high-volume, low-enriched uranium (HALEU) oil. Such reactors are required and to demonstrate “innovative” reactor designs under the Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program (ARDP), most require TRISO fuel and uranium iron fuel. None of these fuels are still commercially available.
The overall strategy document includes an integrated waste disposal strategy, which is used in the recommendations. And in collaboration with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission for timely deployment of advanced nuclear power plants. Congress calls for the adoption of nuclear waste legislation and financial support for agencies to develop and accelerate the development and acceleration of innovative nuclear energy systems.
