We are defeated. Like many of you, we have some feelings for the families of these brave heroes. You feel like you are drinking in a black hole in the middle of your chest. There is no way out. My heart aches for you, and I know this – we all have a sacred duty to the families of those heroes. That obligation is not temporary. He will live forever.
The life we have lost today is a life of service in freedom, security, and other services. In the US service. Like their comrades and brothers who died defending our vision and values in the fight against terrorism, they are part of a great company of American heroes.
For those who have committed this attack, and for anyone who wants to harm America, know this – we will not forgive. We will not forget it. We will save you and pay you. By my command, I will protect our interests and our people on all fronts.
Over the past few weeks, I know many of you are tired of hearing what I have to say: ISIS, the enemy of the Taliban, has informed us through our spying community that those prisoners have been released. Opened, he has been planning complex attacks on US workers and others. That’s why I say this mission was very dangerous from the beginning and that’s why I decided to limit the duration of this mission.
Understand the Taliban invasion of Afghanistan
Who are the Taliban? A.D. In the wake of the 1989 withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, the Taliban were ousted. It was launched in 1994. To enforce their rules, they resorted to harsh punishments, including brutality, mutilation, and mass murder. More about their background and the record of their reign is here.
As a general [Kenneth F.] McKenzie, this is why our mission is designed, this is how it is designed to work, under extreme stress and attack. We know that from the beginning. And he made it clear that I had constant contact with our senior military leaders – and I mean constant, day-to-day – and our officers on the ground all day, that we could do this and that we should complete this mission. And that is what I commanded.
We do not give up on terrorists. We do not allow them to stop our mission. We will continue to be displaced. I also ordered ISIS-K to develop action plans to attack assets, leaders, and institutions. We respond forcefully and accurately at our time, place, and moment.
Here is what you need to know – these ISIS terrorists will not win. We will save the Americans there. We will bring out our Afghan partners, and our mission will continue. The United States is not afraid, and I have great faith in saving lives for the courageous members of the Mission who will continue to carry out this mission with courage and dignity, and for the withdrawal of Americans, our partners, our Afghan partners from Afghanistan.
